In the Houston metro area, the residents are reeling from yet another flood this April, with many of them only just recovered from the devastating Memorial Day floods of 2015. They are exhausted and frustrated and as one gentleman put it, getting far too good at ripping out carpeting and drywall.
But when they see the volunteers wearing the bright red vests, they know that there is hope. Supplies for cleaning up, hot meals and water, and information about other resources are vital for the recovery process, and all of this is provided through the generosity of Red Cross donors. T
he volunteers are donors, too; donors of time and talent and time with their own families. Some of them are also flood victims who still find a way to give back by using their hands for others. If you want to be part of the Red Cross mission, use your hands to type www.redcross.org to start the volunteer application process and become another powerful set of helping hands.
