Last week marked an extraordinary and deeply meaningful moment for the American Red Cross and the communities we serve. It was truly an honor to be part of the unveiling of the very first standing statue of Clara Barton, the visionary founder of the American Red Cross. This historic occasion not only celebrated her enduring contributions but also reminded us of the profound impact one individual can have through compassion, courage, and unwavering service to others.
Clara Barton’s legacy is woven into every act of relief, every trained volunteer, and every life touched by the Red Cross mission. Standing before her likeness, we were reminded that her work was never about recognition, it was about showing up when it mattered most. That same spirit was evident throughout the ceremony, as community members, leaders, and volunteers gathered to reflect on the past and look ahead to the future of humanitarian service.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the City of Pasadena and the Strawberry Festival for bringing this vision to life and creating such a memorable and meaningful experience for all who attended. Their commitment to honoring history while uplifting community values made this event truly special.
We also want to recognize and thank our CEO, Carmen Watkins, along with our dedicated board members, for being present and helping commemorate this important milestone. Your leadership and continued support ensure that Clara Barton’s mission lives on in impactful, tangible ways across our region.
As we reflect on this unforgettable event, we are reminded that Clara Barton’s work is far from finished, it lives on through each of us. Her legacy calls us to action: to step forward, to serve, and to care for our neighbors in times of need.
The best way to honor Clara Barton’s legacy is to continue it by signing up to be a volunteer.
We invite you to join us in making a difference by going to redcross.org/Texas to sign up today and make a difference in your community.
