Red Cross volunteer Gary Craig can do just about anything tech-related. He recently volunteered at the Harvest Church in Jasper, Texas, when wildfires impacted many families in the region. He is a technology services associate and says he’s happy to help out wherever he’s needed and has the skill to help.

“I’m doing training and helping with onboarding, and I’m an admin for Edge,” said Craig, referring to the educational system for Red Cross volunteers.

Gary and Ruth chat about ham radio

Gary is retired and says he enjoys helping out. Sitting at a table at the church in front of a computer, he shares what may be little-known information.

“If cell service and the internet go down,” he said. “You can use ham radio to communicate.”

That’s just one of the ways Gary is valuable to the Red Cross team. He’s a technology jack of all trades, and if he doesn’t know the answer, he will find it.

Gary has been volunteering with the American Red Cross Southeast and Deep East Chapter for two years and since day one he has hit the ground running. He has deployed to several areas across the Texas Gulf Coast Region and is always ready to help wherever he is needed.
