On Monday, October 20th, the Texas Gulf Coast Red Cross (TGCRC) Youth Service Council (YSC) hosted a virtual fire-safety workshop designed to empower youth across the region with lifesaving knowledge. Coordinated by Executive Chair Raya Patel and led by Vice Chair Kristin Tsai, the session offered engaging, in-depth content on topics such as creating home fire escape routes, understanding prevention protocols, and learning meaningful ways to get involved in fire-safety initiatives.
The workshop was a true team effort. Administrative Chairs Emma Ajalova and Melody Ziaee kicked off the event with creative icebreakers and activities that helped participants feel comfortable and excited to learn. Events Chairs Tiffany Yuan and Kelvin Anthony played an essential role in organizing and guiding the flow of the program.
A special shoutout also goes to Communications Chairs Preston Nguyen and Elly Zhang, along with Marketing Chairs Eric Xu and Emaan Sheikh, whose outreach and promotion through social media and email ensured a strong turnout. Fundraising Chairs Laila Hakki and Jiya Joshi, IHL Chair Krrish Ladha, and Projects Chair Maria Tico offered valuable insights on how youth can continue spreading fire-safety awareness within their schools and communities.
Thanks to this incredible collaboration, the TGCRC Youth Service Council successfully reached more than 20 young participants, each leaving better prepared and more confident in their ability to prevent home fires and respond safely. This workshop continues the council’s mission of expanding fire-prevention awareness and building a safer, more resilient youth community across the Texas Gulf Coast region.
