On June 18, in response to the severe thunderstorms and high winds that struck the Upper Valley, the American Red Cross South Texas Chapter partnered with H.E.L.P. RGV to distribute essential cleaning supplies and food to residents impacted by the storm.
H.E.L.P. RGV assembled “comfort totes” filled with a variety of cleaning items—including soap bars, disinfectant spray, bleach, alcohol wipes, and floor cleaner—alongside food items such as frozen pizza, ready-to-eat meals, honeydew melon, milk, bread, instant noodles, and other staples.
A team of eight Red Cross volunteers, joined by members of the local Community Assistance Program (CAP), delivered these totes directly to affected households. The Cameron County CAP team played a key role in facilitating the connection between the Red Cross and H.E.L.P. RGV, strengthening local collaboration and support.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Wayne Frans, a dedicated community leader, who initially visited H.E.L.P. RGV to donate three pallets of instant noodles. Upon learning about the distribution effort, he generously contributed additional noodles for the comfort totes—further demonstrating the power of community in times of need.
