Maria Navarro is no stranger to disasters in her community of Pharr. This is the third flood that her and her family have had to recover from.  As a twenty year resident, she shared with Red Cross Volunteer, Manny Lerma how she keeps reliving this terrible nightmare.

“The rain was awful and caused a lot of damage. We lost quite a bit and are very sad, but we are glad to be safe,” said Maria.

Red Cross was able to provide cleaning supplies, a tarp and other implements, to Maris do she can hopefully start her road to recovery. Maria was extremely grateful to be able to receive her cleaning supplies and other services to help her through this terrible situation.

“Thank you for what you do!,” said Maria.

As part of the Red Cross team these words of appreciation are always heartwarming and make us proud to be American Red Cross Volunteers. We are always ready and willing to help when disasters hit our communities.

Maria is one hundreds of families affected by the flooding in South, TX that need assistance and we can’t do this alone. Please donate to the Red Cross today by going to redcross.org or calling 1-800-Red Cross.
