After devastating flooding in Anthony Dusauzay’s home this past week, Anthony is extremely grateful to the Red Cross for their support in caring for him and his neighbors after last week’s flooding which affected several residents in East Texas last Thursday May 2, 2024. Anthony, like so many others in the area, had his beloved home of two years flooded by three feet of water and lost many personal items as a result. He recounted how he had gone to work on Thursday like so many others in East Texas did, not expecting the rain to become a serious issue and the feeling of not having enough time to prepare and evacuate when he had returned home. Despite this, he was somehow able to salvage some of his hard-earned belongings by moving what he could into the upstairs parts of his Conroe home before finding refuge with a friend in Houston. His home however, took some damage.

Anthony meets Red Cross Disaster team outside his home and receives cleaning supplies to help him on the road to recovery

Fortunately, Anthony and his girlfriend Ashley, and pets were able to remain safe throughout this terrible event. He expressed he was extremely grateful to find that the Red Cross was there when he returned to his Conroe home for the aid they provided in showing resources to additional help for those who had lost their homes and belongings as well as food and supplies after the disaster. He was especially grateful to find out that some of the volunteers were from North Dakota and praised the Red Cross volunteers’ willingness to support those in need across state lines at a moment’s notice. Anthony now hopes to move on from this disaster and “take it day by day” and hopes to someday volunteer with the Red Cross himself.
